I landed Toronto late at night in October 2013. I waited at the airport for a Chinese couple who I have never met before to pick me up and drive me to the rented place pre-arranged. It took about 20 minutes to reach downtown. A convenient distance. The place I was going to stay is near University of Toronto. My friend told me that the houses in downtown area have been built over 120-150 years already. They are in good conditions but old. It is hard to imagine that there have been many different people living in it. Then it is my turn to live in it.
It is a house with 2 floors, 1 basement and 1 attic. Can you imagine that total 10 people live in that house? No living rooms, which have been transformed to 2 bedrooms for rent. I paid my rent to the landlord, and she gave me the room key. Then the room is mine. I quickly unpacked my luggage and lied down in the single bed. Feeling "foreign"....
