Toronto is a diverse city. In the past, Toronto was just the central downtown and its close surrounding areas. It has expanded to become the Greater Toronto Area (GTA). It includes not only the city of Toronto, but also the four regional municipalities - Durham, Halton, Peel and York.
Many newcomers coming to Toronto stay with their relatives or friends. There are some options and short term alternatives. Most newcomers find their temporary staying places when first arrive in Toronto and look for the permanent places to live eventually.
Many house owners rent their spare rooms to share the costs. The rent mostly covers WiFi, electricity, water and heater. The rooms rented are usually provided with some basic furniture which has a bed, a desk, some chairs and closets. Most of the time you can make yourself comfortable there.
